“Justice” Slips

The Latest DC Franchise falls to number two this week at the box office as Justice League brings in just over 40 million domestically as the latest Disney Pixar Coco takes first with 49 million at the box office.

Justice League picks up right after Batman V Superman left off as the world is morning the heroic death of Superman.  At the same time, crime is at an all time high as Batman and Wonder Woman struggle to recruit a new replacement for their fallen crony and Wonder Woman’s home is over taken by Steppenwolf who has plans to take over the entire world.

Justice League starsBen Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman as they recruit Aquaman (Jason Momoa),  The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) for their Justice League Team, but will they be strong enough to defeat Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) without their fearless leader, Superman (Henry Cavill) and be able to save the World?

At two hour run time, the action adventure will have audiences on the edge of their seats wondering what will happen next.   With just enough back story from the previous DC films, viewers don’t have to know a lot about the characters in order to understand what is happening and be entertained.  All in all, it’s a powerful movie with a message of how much power a team has as each member of the Justice League brings their own strength in order to defeat the villain and save the world.

Justice League came out in theaters, November 17 and though it dropped its second weekend, it brought in over 171 million from its debut opening weekend to date at the box office.

“Wonder” Tugs Heartstrings At Two

The feel good movie of the year has audiences rushing to the theaters the week before Thanksgiving as the Lionsgate film, Wonder snagged second behind Marvel’s Justice League.

Wonder starsJulia Roberts as Isabel andOwen Wilson as Nate, as the parents of August “Auggie” Pullman (Jacob Tremblay), a little boy born with a rare facial deformity.  As Auggie approaches middle school, Nate and Isabel finally decide that now is the right time to enter him into a prestigious middle school.  Afraid of what kids would say, Auggie goes to school and faces the typical peer pressure and teasing that all new kids go through, though it seems amplified because of his condition.

At the same time, his older sister Via (Izabela Vidovic), though invisible because of her brother, she also faces changes in her school as she encounters betrayal and first love at the same time, while trying to vi for her parents approval in the shadow of her little brother.

Wonder is told through multiple perspectives including Auggie, Via, Via’s best friend, Miranda and Auggie’s friend, Jack Will and shows how each person’s perspective can see things very differently.

All in all, Wonder is a great feel good movie for the holidays.  It will have you laughing and crying and thinking about the bigger picture when it comes to relationships.

Wonder came out in theaters November 17, 2017 and has brought in over 27 million domestically at the box office.  It’s currently playing at a theater near you.

Thor Kicks Butt at Previews

The Latest Thor sequel is bring millions into the theater as it is expected to bring in the number one spot for the first November weekend at the box office.

Chris Hemsworth stars as the God of Thunder Thor son of Odeon who is burden with  a dream of the complete destruction of his hometown Asgard as prophesied as Ragnarok.  After his father passes on, his brother comes back to life,  and his long lost older sister Hela played byCate Blanchett,  sends him and his brother away to another land in order to take over rule of of Asgard and restore the city to the war torn  country that it was prior to Odeon’s peace treaty.  Now it’s up to Thor with the help of some familiar Avengers, including Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange and Mark Ruffalo as the Incredible Hulk in order to get back the Asgard and prevent Ragnarok from happening.

At 2 hours and 10 minutes, Thor: Ragnarok features the latest in special effects and is best seen in IMAX 3D for optimum viewing.  It will have movie goers cracking up at all the humorous moments and well as cheering for Thor as he fights to restore Asgard and decide if he really is the next rightful ruler of the land.

With surprises around every corner and of course the ever expected cameo by comic creator Stan Lee, movie goers will not want to miss one moment of the epic adventure even down to the final scene after the credits as a preview of what’s to come next. The Marvel adventure came out in theaters November 3rd and is currently playing in at a theater near you.
