“Every day” Review
It’s a tragic love story of an individual doomed to live in a person’s body every 24 hours, though the audience doesn’t understand why, they see a struggle in the person as they fall in love with a girl only to have to convince her that they are still them only in a new body.
Based on the best selling novel by David Levithan, Every day stars a long cast of teenagers including Angourie Rice as Rhiannon, the girl that A falls in love with as well as Justice Smith, who plays Rhiannon’s boyfriend, whom A first possesses and creates the perfect first date for them, as well as Jeni Ross as Amy, Lucas Jade Zumann as Nathan, Rory McDonald as David, Katie Douglas as Megan, Jacob Batalon as James, Ian Alexander as Vic, Sean Jones as George, Colin Ford as Xavier, Jake Sim as Michael, Nicole Law as Kelsea, Karena Evans as Hannah, Owen Teague as Alexander and Hannah Alissa Richardson as Katie.
15 days and 15 bodies inhabited and A for the first time wishes to stay in them to be able to fully love Rhiannon, but the question is can they really live in another body and be their full self?
At an hour 35 minutes, Every Day is a typical teenage love story similar to others including The Vow, where we see how deeply teenagers and first loves can be, but ultimately it stands out, because the outcome is not at all what you would expect. It’s a daily journey that shows the importance of living for the day and not for the week or even month and it’s a great message for any adolescent to cherish every moment, because you never know when it might me your last.
Every day was produced by Orion Pictures as it’s first full length motion picture to be produced and distributed by the company. It came out February 23, 2018 and is currently playing in a theater near you.
“Shack” Review
Based on the New York Times best seller by Wm. Paul Young, The Shack is the first truly inspiration story of the year as you see the struggle of Mack as he goes from having everything in life to losing the one thing that begins to unravel his family’s whole existence, as he grapples with the ultimate question, “How could God let that happen?” The story tugs at the heartstrings as it shows a God fearing man, and challenges everything that Mack Phillips believes. Now in the midst of his grief, Mack receives a letter from God, to which he makes the journey back to the shack that took his youngest daughter in order to find the ultimate forgiveness that everyone hopes to find.
The Shack stars Sam Worthington as Mack as he meets God, or Papa (Octavia Spencer), who he remembers from a young child as being the one who helps him see the light in the mist of his abusive father. The film also stars Tim McGraw as his friend, who helps him throughout his journey. At 2 hrs and 10 minutes, the Shack is sure to have you tearing up with the deepest emotion as the powerful acting of the entire cast brings even more depth to such a powerful story.
The Shack came out the first weekend in March and has already brought in over 20 million at the box office and is said to be the seventh highest grossing Christian film thus far. It’s currently playing in a theater near you.
“Mockingjay” Prevails
The much anticipated finale, adapted from the Hunger Games trilogy, by Suzanne Collins, is giving the James Bond sequel a run at the box office, as it’s estimated to bring in roughly 46 million for its opening day.
Mockingjay — Part 2 picks up right where Part 1 leaves us with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) leading the rebellion against the capitol. Crowds packed the theater, opening night, November 19th and were fully engulfed in the adventure, suspense and drama of the book brought to an epic end on the big screen.
Mockingjay: Part 2 reunites Lawrence with her sister Primrose ( Willow Shields) as well as Peta Mallark (Josh Hutcherson) and Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) as they join all twelve districts together in order to preserve the future.
All in all, the film doesn’t disappoint and all are highly encouraged to see the epic blockbuster of the year. Mockingjay: Part 2 is currently playing at a theater near you.
“Monsters” Come to Life on the Big Screen
From the creative mind of R.L. Stine, comes a tale that will give anyone “Goosebumps.”
Jack Black stars in Columbia’s Goosebumps as R.L Stine himself, who has secluded himself in the town of Greendale, Maryland with only his daughter and manuscript monsters to keep him company, but when Zach, played by Dylan Minnette, moves in next door to him and his daughter, (Odeya Rush) takes a liking to the mysterious boy next door, well it’s up to daddy Stine to put things back in there place, especially when the teenagers unleash the dangerous of monsters that he has ever created.
Goosebumps, at just under two hour runtime, is an action, adventure, comedy that will have true fans of the young adult horror genre on the edge of their seats in tradition R.L Stine manner. The blockbuster opened October 15, 2015, right around the time of halloween and is currently playing at a theater near you. See it today, you won’t be sorry.
