New Generation connects with the old in the latest Ghostbusters sequel. Egon’s family, carrying on the legacy, find themselves confronted with similar challenges that the original Ghostbusters found themselves struggling with, including politics. Everything is put aside like the original when a massive threat, challenges the world. It’s time for everyone to put on the gear one more time and ban together to defeat the evil and save the world.
At an hour, 55 minute runtime, Ghostbusters brings new with the old as there is much more nostalgic moments that fans of the original will remanence over. The film stars Gifted star, McKenna Grace as young Phoebe, the grand daughter of the late great Egon, who clearly carries the same science loving torch as her grandfather. Grace certainly carries herself well especially along side legends including Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts. Growth in her character definitely makes for a rather intriguing story.
Additionally the film stars Paul Rudd as the teacher who is slowly learning the boundaries when dealing with kids in the ghost fighting business. We also see character growth as Rudd goes from buddy to more of a paternal figure. There is also a bit of a budding romance between Rudd and Infinity War‘s Carrie Coon, who also is seen encouraging a more paternal role for Rudd. While no major romance, it’ll be interesting to see how those characters play out in future films
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire came out in theaters March 22 and is currently playing in one near you.
