What would happen if unicorns were in fact real? It’s the mythical legend turned into a horror comedy.

Death Of A Unicorn explores all of this as a grieving father and daughter venture to a secluded woods where the father is about to get the job offer of his life from his current boss. On the way, they manage to hit something that seems to have magical properties. The girl instantly has a connection, but the father out of fear, bluntly puts the creature supposedly out of its misery. That’s not the end though as they put the “deceased” creature in their car to dispose of. What they don’t realize is there are more lurking around who are not so happy that their “baby” was “killed”.

The film stars Beetlejuice 2‘s Jenna Ortega, who absolutely excels as that bitter teen who goes from not wanting to be there to wanting to save the creatures. Ant-Man’s Paul Rudd plays the estranged father, who is trying to make up for his absence by being a “good dad”. Like other roles, he seems to have a awkward way of handling this though his chemistry with Ortega is quite interesting.

Additionally the film also stars Maze Runner‘s Will Poulter, Anthony Carrigan and Argylle’s Richard E Grant, all of who make the film that much of a comedy horror that you have to see to believe.

Death of a Unicorn came out in theaters March 29th and is currently playing in one near you.
