“Arthur The King” REVIEW

Three years after losing the race in the Dominican Republic, Michael is still living with the embarrassment of getting “stuck in the mud”. The drive to compete and win is still there so Michael puts together a team who has the same drive to win. However what they discover when they start competing is there is a scruffy dog following them, a dog that in more ways then one will prove less a dog and more a member of their pack even as he is suffering with his pain. How far are they willing to go to deal with the pain and when is the right time to say goodbye?

Based on a true story, Arthur the King is definitely a feel good movie that will not disappoint. Similar to other films including Marley and Me and A Dog’s Journey, it will have audiences engaged throughout wondering how far a dog will go to get a forever home and even more just how invested the people are to fully accept such a stray.

The film stars, Mark Wahlburg in by far one of his most heartfelt movies yet. It’s shows his sensitive side even as he admits he’s “not a dog person”. It only goes to show with the right dog anyone can be a dog lover. Additionally, Simu Liu stars as Michael social media enthusiast partner, carrying the same charm as from his latest Award winning film, Barbie. The relationship between the two, shows that estranged nature, but through the bond of the dog all is right again.

Finally the team rounds out with Furious 7‘s Nathalie Emmanuel who adds a little youth and edge as well as Ali Suliman who is the true backbone of the team. All of which, form a unique bond that can not be unbroken.

At an hour 30 minute runtime, Arthur the king is a movie for the whole family. It came out in theaters March 15 and is currently playing in one near you.
