“Five Nights At Freddy’s” REVIEW

It’s Blumhouse‘s first video game adaptation come to life on the big screen in Five Nights at Freddy’s. When Mike takes a security job at an abandoned pizza parlor, his first thought is what is to protect. Then he meets Freddy and all of his demonic friends. Now the only question is will he get out alive, especially when these animatronics take special fancy to Mike’s sister.

In this fun loving horror film, it’s definitely more of a kid friendly film with just enough scares to make kids jump. The film stars Josh Hutchinson in what seems like a fitting role over all. Hutchinson definitely carries that same sense of protection that he grew into from the Hunger Games saga. We see a big brother role enhanced as he struggles to take care of his little sister by taking on this seemingly easy task of security guard.

Similarly the film also stars Emily Lail as Vanessa, the female cop in the area, when Freddy’s gets broken into. Lail, coming off her previous TV role in Once Upon A Time, she steps out in a little bit of a dare in this new role, where all odds are off the table. She also connects with by Hutchinson and the young actress playing his sister Abby (Piper Rubio) in a way that is enjoyable to see on the big screen.

All in all Five Nights at Freddy’s is a fun film more or less for the whole family. It’s a fitting film for the Halloween season, even despite the PG 13 rating. One would feel fairly confident bring older children to get a thrill out of the fun loving film. Five Nights at Freddy’s came out in theaters 0ctober 27 and is currently showing in one near you.
