“Old”: Review

M. Night Shyamalan‘s latest suspense thriller has audiences rethinking the term age graceful in “Old”.

When a family discovers paradise on a tropical island, they quickly learn to cherish what they have as their children suddenly age quickly. The only question now is will they be able to successfully leave the island or is this their final resting place.

The film stars a few relative known characters including A Knight’s Tale’s Rufus Sewell as Charles, the latest Jumanji star, Alex Wolff as 15 year old Trent, Lost star Ken Leung as Jarin and Little Women’s Eliza Scanlen as 15 year old Kara as just a few of the people trying to survive on the island. All in all, the entire cast does a great job of portraying people who go from wanting peace and quiet on a sucluded island to that of ones who just wish to get the heck off.

Of course in traditional Shyamalan style, the movie definitely has a surprise twist that as soon as it is revealed, everything completely makes sense. It certainly bares a lot of similarities to his first film, Sixth Sense which came out in 1999. It’s one of those movies where the ending will completely surprise you and leave you understanding more about what actually happened and why.

At an hour and 45 minute run time, Old came out in theaters July 22 and is currently playing in one near you.
