“Exorcist Believer” REVIEW

The latest spin from the 1973 classic will have audience believing in something impossible and clinging to everything that the Exorcist franchise holds most. It also reunites old fan favorites with an all new stellar cast that will have your attention from the first scene on.

The film follows a widowed father raising his now 13 year old daughter after losing his wife in an emergency childbirth decision. But when his daughter and her friend go missing after school one day, he is determined to get his daughter back. The only problem is what came with her.

At an hour 51 minute runtime, Exorcist: believer brings a whole new meaning to faith and exorcism. The cast which includes Ellen Burstyn and Linda Blair from the original Exorcist films as well as Leslie Odom Jr. who uses his “Burr” charm to smitten the audience with his horror genre. Additionally, Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles equally does an exceptional job as she steps away from her country roots and fully dives into the world of Catholicism.

The two young actresses portraying the possessed little girls, Hidden FiguresLidya Jewett and Olivia O’Neil in her first ever on screen debut also captivated audiences in their sense of demon possession. The way they portrayed an allegedly real life idea is exceptional acting talents. It’ll be interesting for sure to see how these two young actresses’ careers grow.

All in all, Exorcist: Believer is a good ole horror film that will keep you in suspence as we wonder who if any will be saved from their torturous fate. The film came out in theaters October 6 and is currently playing in a theater near you.
