“Joker” Review

Joaquin Phoenix is the next Joker and truly giving past Jokers a run for their money in the latest spinoff centered around how Arthur Fleck became one of the most hated villains of the Batman series.

Having three very large shoes to fill, Phoenix did a remarkable job of portraying the psychotic killer as he goes through the stages of a confused man trying to get help for his condition of uncontrollable laughter to that of the monster everyone knows. The previous stars who played the iconic villain include, Jack Nickolson, Heath Ledger, and Jared Leto from the Suicide Squad spin off and one can definitely say Phoenix adds to that of the suspense of who Joker is.

In addition to Phoenix, the film also stars Robert Deniro as the TV Host Murray who Joker seems obsessed with from the first moment on screen as he imagines being interviewed on the show. It is that dream that drives his insanity and makes one wonder when the real Joker is going to come out.

At 2 hour and 3 minute run time, Joker is filled with laughter even in the most obscene way possible however even when Joker laughed about the murders it still had the audience some what cracking up at the way he did it and all thanks to Joaquin Phoenix who stole the show with his witty humor.

The film, though it is rated R, was relatively mild in offensive actions; a few disturbing scenes including shooting a guy’s head off, but ultimately considering who the movie is about, one can expect. It was more of a psychological disturbance than anything else.

Joker came out in theaters Thursday, October 3 and is playing everywhere in a theater near you. True Batman fans will not be disappointed.
