“Bennett’s War” Review

A injured army soldier comes home to find his family farm in trouble in the feel good movie of the season.

Bennett’s War stars Dolphin Tale star Michael Roark as an expert rider who’s mission to serve the army is shattered when he is hit rescuing another soldier in Afghanistan. Now Roark as Marshall Bennett is turning back to his roots of motocross racing in an effort to save his family’s farm. The question is will he be able to pull it off after sustaining an injury that broke his foot and leg or will he end up being crippled for life with one more accident.

At an hour and thirty four minute run time, Bennett’s War reminds us that sometimes the risk is worth the reward as opposed to living in the comfort of safety. Roark does an exceptional job of capturing the emotion of a man broken but not defeated when his world begins to crumble around him. It reminds us that its important to live for the sake of living unlike living in the safety of comfort.

Other cast includes country music star Trace Adkins as Marshall’s father and his role adds to the element of hope as the writers creatively uses his story to tie into that of Marshall’s wife, Sophie (played by Allison Paige) as she must grasp an even tougher role that of wife to army solder now wounded as he pursues his first dream. Paige does an exceptional job at taking on the important role and standing by her husband against all odds.

Likewise, the chemistry between the whole cast is exceptional as the dialogue and visual cues roll off each other with such grace and perfection. One can definitely feel the connection between the actors to allow for a believable story.

Bennett’s War came out in theaters September 1 and is currently playing in a theater near you. see it for a great feel good movie with a little action and just enough motocross attention. One wont ‘be sorry.
