“Jungle Cruise” Review

Emily Blunt is a female Indiana Jones figure as the latest adaption of a Disneyland attraction is sending people straight to the theaters.

The Disneyland attraction is given more of a story as Lily Houghton (Emily Blunt) and her brother, MacGregor (Jack Whitehall) set out on a journey through the amazon to find a mysterious hidden tear in an effort to change science and heal diseases. Only one thing stands in their way, they need a guide. This is where fun loving boat guide, Frank (Dwayne Johnson) comes in, though his deception and hidden agenda leaves a little distrust as a comical scene with the real owner, Nilo (Paul Giamatti) proves trouble for everyone. Now it is up to the two siblings and their guide to brave the deadly amazon and see if they can indeed find the hidden tear.

At 2 hour 7 minute runtime, Disney’s Jungle Cruise will leave you feeling as if you just hopped on board the physical attraction. Right on down to the hilarious “bad” jokes that the ride is known for, Dwayne Johnson hit the nail on the head with his witty humor and ruggedness that one could swear he’s had practice as a guide. Additionally there were visual elements included that throughly brought the ride to life like the breathtaking landscape which ultimately makes you feel as though you really are on an Island.

That being said, Jungle Cruise was filmed through its entirety off the Hawaiian Islands as it is set in the early 1900’s, pre World War 2, which they exceptionally capture that time frame with the invasion of German type soldiers who also seem to want to get their hands on the hidden wonders of the Amazon.

All in all, Jungle Cruise will have you laughing and on the edge of your seats though scenes do appear to be quite predictable, like the beloved attractions, it’s certainly a movie that one can never get tired of. The film came out in theaters and on Disney plus July 30 and is currently playing in a theater near you or if one prefers to pay 30 dollars and stream anytime from any mobile device.
